Find Your Niche

The key to success in a small business is to focus on your niche to the exclusion of all else. Too often, small business owners want to ne all things to all people, especially at the beginning when revenue is small and a potential clients asks if you can do something for them that is only slightly outside of your area of expertise.
Unfortunately, as Dawud Miracle explains, being uncertain about what you do will lead to lackluster results:
Little focus means little results. And what other positioning in your niche market is there than being considered the best in your market space? Do you hear any of your clients say, “I’m working with Dawud because he’s the 12th best business advisor in his field?” Of course not. People always want to feel they’re working with the best. And usually they are – the best for them.
So I’ve never understood having a business unless your intent was to be the best in a market space. And that means that you set out from the beginning to dominate the market.

It is tough to find a good niche but once you do you can make good money the trick is find a niche that people are look for but no one is marketing to or if your good at seo and are willing to work hard you can go after a challenge high paying niche link web hosting, make money online, debt… if you can rule these markets you will make a lot of money but it will not be easy as everyone is after these

I’m desperately looking for my “super niche”. There are a lot of niche finder programs out there. Have you had any experience with any of them? Are there ways to search niches effectively without having to buy a program?

I couldn’t agree with you more. I teach the Get Clients Now! program and find that many first time small business owners want to reach everyone. In their enthusiasm, their reach extends their grasp and they reach no one.
Target the few and you will reach the many.

I agree…finding a valuable niche can be very difficult especially in today’s down economy, however…if one can find a great niche that they also enjoy doing…then they need to run with it and take it as far as they possibly can which means also having top quality internet.

I agree with Jaclyn as well. It is hard to find a good niche in general. However, I feel it is no more difficult during an economic downturn to find your niche market. Their are certain societal needs that have to be fulfilled during a recession. This was proven through Rich’s Blog on Feb 9 “Companies Born During Downturn.” IBM is a perfect example because they were able to find a niche that helped workers. A time clock for recording workers’ hours was needed for industry. Now is as good of a time as any if not better to find your niche.
