Plugging A New Source Of Energy

What will you be doing when you reach 91 years old? For some people, that age means sitting back and enjoying each day. However, Harold Isaacs is using this time to invent.

Some years back, Harold was reading a book on engineering and how it applies to an urban ice-making plant. The book included information on the number of kilowatts used to make one ton of ice. He soon began to recognize a trend in energy waste, reports Cleveland Jewish News.

“The light bulb went on; I realized this 7:1 ratio had tremendous implications,” Isaacs explains. “Potentially (through a series of complex steps involving an evaporator, compressor, condenser, turbine-piston engine, speed reactor and other equipment) we could convert sunshine that heats the surface of a body of water into electricity.

“For 50 years I carried this information around in my head, but until now there was no way to make it materialize,” he declares. As the years went by, however, the cost of electricity skyrocketed, as did environmental damage caused by using fossil fuel.

So the University Heights resident took matters into his own hands and designed a power plant utilizing his discovery. When complete, Isaacs projects his plant would produce kilowatts costing fewer than three cents; less than half the current cost. In addition, he says, “There is zero environmental damage, energy sources are free and abundant, and the cost of building this plant is 30% less than those fueled by coal or gas.

“This is about my 100th project in 60 years and by far the most important,” notes Isaacs, who ran Techno Products Inc. for 20 years, a successful manufacturer of trucking supplies. He designed many of the products himself and holds 10 patents, he says. “My nameplate and logo were on over 100,000 pieces of equipment.”
