Hi! I'm Dane Carlson, and welcome to the Business Opportunities Weblog. I've been publishing this website, by myself, and sometimes with the help of others for over twelve years now. You'll notice two things about this site right away:

  • We have tons of content. In fact, since November 2011, I've published more than 26,000 posts on thousands of different business ideas and opportunities.
  • We don't sell much advertising. In late 2013, I realized that by selling advertising, what I was really selling was my readers. In 2014, I've already radically cut down on the number of ads and will hopefully keep cutting.

People love beer, and a new iPhone app draws on that love by helping people find the closest, cheapest beer in their area.

NearBeer is a free app released in July that finds the closest location to buy beer at the lowest price. You may search by distance, brand or quantity (look for kegs, for instance). You have to figure this one will be demanded by Android and Blackberry users soon enough.

The app integrates with your Twitter and Facebook accounts so you may easily let friends know about a local establishment, happy hour beer deals and other beer-related specials and upload photos, verify reviews by others and add to Favorites. Build a (virtual beer) cap collection, become the “Brew Master” of a neighborhood, and use a crowd-sourced dataset of reviews and deals to get up-to-the-minute updates.
