Most people, when they do purchase a coffin, are so overcome with grief that they’re not in any position to do comparison shopping, and as a result the funeral industry is rife with hidden charges and secret price lists.
After arranged a funeral for a friend, Steven Mitchell realized that industry was ripe for change. His new company, CompareTheCoffin.com allows visitors to purchase a coffin directly from his online store, or to submit a request for a specific coffin that is then forwarded to hundreds of funeral directors around the UK that are then able to bid on the casket.
