However developing a new franchise business in a region were you don’t hold much local knowledge, no business contacts and limited family roots, is a challenging prospect. 20 year’s ago, that’s exactly what Wirral based entrepreneur Alistair Goodwin of Chem-Dry Wirral & Deva set out to achieve.
Alistair was destined for a career in the health service after studying a degree in Microbiology at university and working in a Pathology Lab at Kettering General Hospital. However, Alistair always wanted to run his own business and after researching various business models and attending several franchising exhibitions, he opted for the proven business model of franchising rather than setting up a business on his own, believing this route would give him a better chance of success.
