Arbor Brewing To Open India Franchise In 2011

When one speaks of “the international language,” most people think of love or music or mathematics. Some may think of English, and a few even of Esperanto. But how many think of… beer? It’s not as far-fetched as it sounds. After all, good taste knows no borders, and as proof, soon there will be an Arbor Brewing Co. brewpub opening in Bangalore, India — perhaps as soon as mid-2011.

How did that happen?

“A former University of Michigan student, Gaurav Sikka, used to hang out a lot at the pub when he was here,” said Matt Greff, owner of Arbor. “After graduating, he moved back to his hometown of Bangalore to figure out what he wanted to do with his life — and it struck him that what India really needs is good beer.” Read full story.
