Seminar Shows Women How To Start Business At Home

KY3.com:

Meredith Taylor is a woman of many hats. She grew up playing the piano and today teaches lessons out of her home. Lately she’s trying her hands at something a little more crafty.
Taylor spends hours sewing each one of her creations, stitching on the details by hand.

“I would like to sell hats; I’m interested in maybe starting on the Internet,” said Taylor.

She has some big questions on how to start her own business. So, this Saturday, she’s attending the Women’s Entrepreneurship Symposium at Drury University, where she hopes to get some answers.

“The track for people looking to start their own business will cover things like how to build a business plan, how to market on a zero budget, those types of things,” said Dawn Hines of Drury University.

Research shows women-owned businesses are the fastest growing economic sector in Missouri.

“I have a feeling there’s probably a lot of women like me who have children and want to have it both ways. We want to be at home but we also have a lot of interests that we want to pursue,” said Taylor.
