The Tupperware Lady, Linda Manning

Houston County News:

Ding-dong, it’s the Tupperware Lady calling.

That would be Linda Manning, 63, the vivacious Tupperware sales consultant from Lansing.

“I would make tremendous money if I quit buying it for myself,” said Manning, crowned La Crescent Apple Annie for 2006.

After 29 years as an activities coordinator at a local nursing home, Manning started selling Tupperware in August.

She signed up for a starter kit at her daughter-in-law’s Tupperware party, and before she knew it, she was a consultant.

“It’s really important to read that fine print,” she said.

But the experience turned out to be a hoot, she said, and her goal was simple.

“I didn’t want to get into debt,” she said. “That’s not good for the marriage.”

She also decided to make every one of her clients a friend.

“Before we’re done, we’re going to be, by golly,” she said.

Mike, her husband of 43 years, tells her the motor in her van never cools down, but he’s OK with that
