Lipstick Effect Keeps Business Booming In Tough Times

When referring to her sales, Jana Jateff calls it “The Lipstick Effect.” A Mary Kay direct sales woman for 26 years, she says during tough times, her business booms.

“Women may not be able to afford a new dress or a new suit, but they can afford a new eyeshadow or a new lipstick,” said Jateff.

Jateff says Mary Kay sales are up and recruiting efforts are at an all-time high.

The Lipstick Effect doesn’t just stick to makeup. Lia Sophia sales are also up and so is the interest in selling the jewelry line.

“You can do it one of two ways: you can supplement, or you can make lots of money,” said Tina Abbott, a sales woman for Lia Sophia.
