The first pizza joint at the Ave Maria University campus won’t be associated with the Domino’s Pizza magnate who developed the college and surrounding community in southwest Florida.
The News-Press reports that Milano’s Pizza of Ave Maria is scheduled to open this fall. Domino’s founder Thomas Monaghan has poured his fortune into the school, but the 1,500-square-foot independent restaurant will hold its grand opening before the chain establishes a store at the Roman Catholic school’s campus.
Tim McIntyre, Domino’s corporate vice president of communications, says the company has no plans to open a location at Ave Maria. McIntyre says the community is “already included within the delivery area of an existing store owned by a Domino’s Pizza franchisee in Naples.”
