Acquisitions Season Pizza Hut Franchisee NPC International’s Profit, Sales

Bizjournals.com:

Store acquisitions boosted Pizza Hut franchisee NPC International Inc.’s second-quarter earnings and sales compared with the same quarter last year, despite a 12.6 percent decrease in sales at stores open at least a year.

In a Friday filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the privately held Overland Park-based company reported earnings of $3.4 million for the quarter that ended June 30, up 70 percent from $2 million last year.

Sales for the quarter were $223.8 million, up 35.6 percent from $165.1 million last year.

In a release, the company attributed the rise in sales to a 49 percent increase in stores, due mostly to its purchase of 288 stores in the fourth quarter and 105 stores in the first quarter.
