Tupperware Sales Get A Boost In Recession

Wired PR News:

The recession has reportedly ushered in a new wave of sellers of products made by companies like Tupperware and Avon. As reported by Reuters, the number of people seeking to earn additional funds for direct sales work has increased significantly due to the economy.

Judy Montalbano, a Tupperware sales representative, is quoted by Reuters as stating, “It does help pay the household bills and the extras…My husband is looking to retire next year. Everyone is looking to make extra money with the state of the economy.”

As noted in the report, Tupperware parties reached a high point in the 1950s, with may women of time times deeming such sales work as a means of empowerment and independence. Ellen Lessman, who has attended a recent Tupperware party is quoted by Reuters as stating, “The parties are coming back stronger now that people are staying at home more. They aren’t going out as much so they need to entertain at home.”
