Lighting Up The Holidays

Darryl Holland moves with purpose as he surveys the calm before the storm. It’s about 9:30 a.m. in early December, which means his company, Holiday LiteSource, will soon be abuzz with activity, reports The Avalanche-Journal.

We’re always on the fly,” Holland said.

That’s because Holiday LiteSource is a national player in the wholesale commercial holiday lighting business. The company is in its 15th season and has supplied products to customers ranging from Hollywood movie production crews to providing LED strings for the national tree in Washington, D.C., three years ago.
Not bad for a self-proclaimed accidental entrepreneur.

LiteSource. The original company vision was to be a commercial distributor of mounting clips and attachment accessories that were invented in Lubbock and cleared the path for a revolution in Christmas light installation.

“As it came about, I just stepped forward to help my dad market the clips,” Holland said. “I thought there was opportunity, though, in the commercial holiday area, and I worked to help advance that. I put all of my eggs in that basket and was encouraged by my dad to run with that because that aspect of it was a little more than they wanted to do.”

Steadily, the future at Holiday LiteSource grew ever brighter. The company expanded its product line and now offers some 1,600 items. Likewise, as business and revenues have increased, the employee count has grown, and it doubles during the busy season.
