Jobs on the suncoast are tough to find as the unemployment rates top 12%. If you find an open position, you can bet you’ll be competing with many others for that position. But some people have found a way to make money and you can be hired right away.

They’re called direct sales consultants, and you’ve heard of the companies like Mary Kay, Avon, and Tupperware. Many people have created their own business through companies like these and they’re making more money then they’ve expected…even in this bad economy.

Mary Kay was a way for Meredith Taylor to set her own schedule, working as little or as much as she wants while still being able to spend time with her kids. “I wanted to supplement some income since we went from two incomes to one when I stayed home and raised my kids. And I knew I didn’t want to go back to corporate America.”

In just three years, Taylor is a Mary Kay Sales Director. She’s received two cars from the company and has more than 300 customers. “I just never imagined that it would bring me to where it is today. I found that I could earn an executive income depending on how many hours I wanted to put into it.”

In 2008, Mary Kay customers bought up $2.6 billion in products. And it has been growing ever since.

These types of jobs are always available and open to anyone…especially women. “Women are coming into Mary Kay because they see the opportunity. This business opportunity is like no other,” says Taylor. “I don’t have to like, rearrange Mary Kay for my life…I fit Mary Kay into my life.”
