Sabrina Lozano likes to tell people: “Every time I go to work, I end up at a party.â€
She sells light bulb warmers and scented wax at home parties.
Direct sales is the last thing Lozano wanted to do when she decided to be a stay-at-home mom. However, after extensively researching Scentsy, she was convinced it would be a good fit for her.
“Even through this so-called recession, the company has managed to increase its profits,†Lozano said. “If they can do it, I can do it.â€
Since September, she has been going to as many as three home parties a week. She brings a suitcase full of samples, door prizes and a gift for the hostess. Depending on sales, the hostess receives discounts for her purchases.
As the aroma of blueberry cheesecake filled a home on a recent Monday evening — just the smell, no actual cheesecake — women circulated around the kitchen and living room, sniffing samples.
Scentsy offers 80 regular scents, and a monthly special feature.
The products come in various packages, from three wax bars plus a plug-in warmer for $25, to a sampler with hanging fresheners, a travel tin, room sprays, Scentsy bars, brick and three warmers for $105. Refill bars come in packs of three for $14.
“I love seeing people get excited about finding a scent they like,†Lozano said.
