Pizza Hut’s $10 Any Pizza promotion helped give franchisee NPC International Inc. a deeper dish of revenue during the first quarter, and cost controls helped transform that into a spike in earnings.
The Overland Park-based company, which runs 1,147 Pizza Hut restaurants and delivery units in 28 states, reported sales of $264.5 million during the 13 weeks that ended March 30. That’s up 13.8 percent from the same period last year.
Sales in stores open at least a year also warmed up, rising 10.2 percent after having fallen 5 percent a year before.
