Vector Reps Help Victims Of Haiti Earthquake

EarthTimes:

Recently, five sales representatives of Vector Marketing, the direct sales division of Cutco Cutlery Corporation, flew to Port-au-Prince, Haiti to assist in providing aid for the thousands of injured and displaced people affected by the January 12, 2010 earthquake. The Vector Marketing sales reps donated their time, money and resources to help Angel Wings, a non-profit organization led by U.S. trained medical professionals who for the past three years have donated their time and talent to help residents living in the rural town of Jacmel, Haiti.

Andy Jeanty, a native Haitian who lost three cousins in the earthquake, was instrumental in sending 30,000 pounds of medical and life-saving supplies to Haiti. Jeanty’s family also donated a part of their property in Port-au-Prince as the site to store medical equipment and supplies for the upcoming clinic that will be built before the end of the year.

“I am grateful to Angel Wings’ founder Myrlande Affriany for dedicating so many of the organization’s resources to the people affected by the earthquake,” said Jeanty. “It was exciting to see these inspiring people in action and to be able to participate in their cause. I am honored that my family was able to donate the site to facilitate the needs of Angel Wings, which is so necessary until a permanent clinic can be built in Jacmel.”

Jeanty, along with Carl Drew, Heather Drew, Susan Saunders and Lindsay Musser, flew to Port-au-Prince on March 31 and returned April 6. During their time in Haiti, the five Vector Marketing sales representatives focused on aiding medical workers by organizing pills, moving boxes, preparing for future teams to arrive and raising funds. They were also able to visit the tent cities, where 1,900 people lived under the worst conditions that included four-to-five families with children living in a tent that would normally cater to one family. The trip ended with a food and supplies distribution at a small tent city located on the way to the hotel at which they were staying.

“Everyone involved with this project is very excited about Vector Marketing’s involvement and attention to this really worthy cause,” said Lindsay Musser. “To me, the involvement we were able to get from the highest levels of the company is a testament to what a great organization Cutco/Vector is to work for.”
