Mary Kay Plans Conferences In Lancaster

LancasterOnline.com:

About 2,000 independent sales consultants for the Dallas-based cosmetics giant will be at the Lancaster County Convention Center April 1-2, 2011, for regional career conferences. A second meeting will be held in March 2012, confirmed Janelle O’Haugherty, Mary Kay’s corporate communications manager.

O’Haugherty said she expects the conference attendees to come from Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, New York and Delaware, but the meeting will be open to any members of the company’s independent sales force.

Chris Barrett, president & CEO of the Pennsylvania Dutch Convention & Visitors Bureau, said he anticipates the economic impact for the county from the two-day event next year to approach $300,000. That figure is based on many attendees being day-trippers, but it includes a one-night hotel stay for the others. Additionally, the estimate includes spending at restaurants, shops and on other goods and services.

Mary Kay’s career conferences include a mix of motivational speeches, product information and sales training. The company holds about 40 such career conferences across the country.
