Bastrop’s newest restaurant will carry on a long tradition of great food combined with an emphasis on customer service.
Michael Rodriguez said he opened the first Magic Grill location in Monroe in Oct. 2009, and the second Magic Grill is slated to open in Bastrop around September of this year. The new grill will be located in the former El Mexicano on the corner of East Madison Avenue and Cleveland Street.
Rodriguez said the inspiration for Magic Grill — both the name and the emphasis on taking care of customers — comes from Ray Pierce.
When he was 12, Rodriguez began working at the Sterlington Quick Stop where he first met Pierce. His family then moved to Monroe, where Rodriguez began working for Pierce at Ray’s PeGe and learned the importance of serving quality food and to treat customers as though they were family. Full story.
