UPDATE: Please Sir, Don’t Kill My Dream

We ran a post yesterday about 7-year-old entrepreneur Julie Murphy and how county health inspectors shut down her lemonade stand.

After their public image soured, elected officials apologized for shutting down Julie’s lemonade stand because she didn’t possess the proper permit.

According to The Oregonian, Multnomah County Chairman Jeff Cogen called Julie to apologize, telling her that he to used to run a lemonade stand when he was a kid. He said he’d hoped his inspectors would’ve used their “professional judgment” before using the rule book to go after children.

“A lemonade stand is a classic, iconic American kid thing to do. I don’t want to be in the business of shutting that down.” Cogen said.
