What do you do when your iMac needs repairs but it is past its warranty date? If you’re in the Tampa area then you can take your computer to the Mac Genius, Steve Bush, reports Tampa Bay Online.
“We fix Macs, that’s what we do,” said Steve Bush, Owner of Screwbox Solutions in downtown Tampa.
Bush became a Mac Genius, a certification given by Apple to work on its computers, when he worked in an Apple Store. Later, he worked for an Apple consulting firm, but he found he liked fixing computers the best.
“Much to my wife’s chagrin, I redid the whole dining room with work benches and fixed Macs until three in the morning,” said Bush
Bush says he does not consider himself a geek about computers. He likes the stories from people whose computers need help. For example, one customer thought he had lost everything, including a movie about his baby that he had worked on for a year. Bush worked an entire weekend to retrieve that data.
“Computers are people’s lives now. They really are,” said Bush.
Bush says his business is a bit recession-proof “because people in a down economy want to fix their computer” more than they want to buy a new one.
