Do you have any ideas for unique tools that would improve the life of someone that suffers from diabetes? The 2011 Diabetes Mine Design Challenge is looking for your ideas.
This year they will be selecting three grand prize winners. Each winner will receive $7,000 in cash, a consulting session from IDEO, a free ticket to the “innovation incubator” Health 2.0 Conference, a chance to meet Silicon Valley investors, and additional hands-on assistance to help you commercialize your design idea. The idea labeled most creative will also win $2,500.
Children that are 17 and under are also welcome to enter. The winning idea in the “Best Kid’s Concept” category will win $1,500.
There are currently two ways to enter. If you like to be in front of the camera, you can create a 2 to 3 minute video, upload it to Youtube, and have it added by their team to the DiabetesMine Youtube channel. If you don’t want to create a video, you can also enter by writing a 2 to 3 page “elevator pitch” with accompanying photos. The pitch must be uploaded via their Scribd collection.
DiabetesMine is accepting applications until Friday, April 29, 2011, at 11:59 pm Pacific time. Winners will be announced on Monday, June 13th, 2011.
