There’s an old adage, ‘what goes around, comes around.’ It seems to be true for the Mr. Rooter Plumbing Water-Wiseâ„¢ Sweepstakes winner, who has helped others for decades.
Pat McKelley’s name was drawn from 64,736 entries. She was on the Better Homes and Gardens website when she read about the sweepstakes for a tankless water heater. It was about to end, so she entered.
“It’s amazing,” said McKelley, who lives in Wooster, Ohio. “I can’t believe I won. I just entered once.”
But once was all she needed. Some may call it luck; others karma, because McKelley worked at the Christian Children’s Home of Ohio for more than 20 years. During that time, she helped hundreds of kids.
She still receives phone calls from now grown-up children she once helped. “They are fantastic adults,” said McKelley, whose daughter and granddaughter followed in her footsteps and now work at the home.
