GoDaddy vs Shopify: Which Should You Choose?

Looking for the best platform when it comes to ecommerce? Take a look at the pros and cons when it comes to GoDaddy vs Shopify.

Shopify is a powerful e-commerce platform that offers many features to help your small business grow. The intuitive, easy interface can be customized in any way you want with unlimited products and bandwidth capacity for whatever products you decide to sell.

You may be familiar with GoDaddy, as they have been around quite a while. They have established themselves as a domain registrar, but have recently expanded into e-commerce and website design.

Go Daddy Vs Shopify: Pros And Cons

Customization and Features

When it comes to being about to customize your ecommerce store, Shopify definitely wins the race. They have many themes that are easy to install to personalize your shop so it’s functional yet aesthetically pleasing.

They also have other features such as integrations and marketing tools that Go Daddy lacks as well.

In terms of payment processors, Shopify offers more but their fees are a tad bit higher than GoDaddy.

Shipping

Both platforms have multiple shipping options and have the ability to label things as local pickup. GoDaddy primarily ships with USPS or UPS. Shopify offers other shipping options such as DHL. As we mentioned integrations earlier, you can even create your own labels within the platform or using other services such as Shipstation or Pirate Ship.

Customer Support

Both companies offer 24/7 support, however Shopify has a community of experts that are available to hire. You can have them add code, create a custom shop setup, or map out the tech you need to connect other services.

Pricing

While each platform has its own tiered pricing, you will need a pro version to be able to create an online store.

Currently Go Daddy bills annually for the plan you need for the online store, at 16.99 per month. The cheapest plan you can purchase without the store is 9.99 per month.

Shopify charges $29 per month for the store, but you could also start with their $5 plan that doesn’t allow a shop, but still lets you sell on social media.

Alternatively, if Shopify proves to be too expensive for you, there are other platforms like Shopify that are reasonably priced

Shopify vs GoDaddy: Which is best?

It really depends on how you want to use your site and how robust you need it to be. Since Shopify specializes in ecommerce, their platform is much more scalable. Even large stores use Shopify, so it doesn’t matter if you are a beginner or seasoned shop owner, Shopify fits the bill.

As a beginner, GoDaddy probably makes more sense because of the simplicity. However, keep in mind that as your business grows, you may outgrow the platform. Then the decision is going to be how hard it is to move your store over.

You will also need to weigh the processing fees and see if it’s in your budget or how you can add this on to your product pricing to come out on top.
