A circle of fitness equipment in the middle of a large room beckons women to work out without worry.

Curves fitness facilities are not like typical gyms. They offer 30-minute circuit training for women only.

“It’s a workout for any woman, no matter what age or fitness level,” said Kaarin Mantz, who manages all three Fargo Curves facilities. “It is planned out for them. They don’t have to come up with a new routine each time.”

Angela Jordahl-Olson owns the Curves territory rights for Fargo, West Fargo and Horace. She bought the three Fargo locations in September 2007.

“Because it is all women, it’s very safe. … We’re all in the same situation. Our needs are similar: to tone and firm and lose weight, so it’s nice that we’re all working toward those goals together,” Jordahl-Olson said.

All three of the clubs have been remodeled with new paint, carpet, window coverings, signage and décor.

Curves has more than 10,000 locations worldwide. According to the company Web site, Curves is the world’s largest fitness franchise and the tenth-largest of all franchise companies. More.
