A recent survey from BIA/Kelsey and ConStat is showing a trend in the number of small businesses using Twitter. Surprisingly, it has not had much effect on print advertising.

According to gaebler.com, Twitter use among businesses has more than doubled between 2009 and 2010, reaching 19%. However, it still falls behind an investment in print yellow pages which has maintained a steady 29%.

While Twitter experienced a large jump in SMB use, it is still lagging behind industry giant Facebook, which 48 percent of respondents reported using for marketing. Total use of social media is expected to increase as well, with 46 percent of SMBs planning increased investment in the channel.
