IHOP Jumping Into Columbus After Circling City With Initial Restaurants

Columbus Business First:

Consider the breakfast battle begun.

After circling Central Ohio for a few years, IHOP Corp. is stepping up its expansion effort.

Franchisee Womack Restaurants Inc. plans to open its next breakfast spot Dec. 6 at 5500 Renner Road in Columbus and has an IHOP under construction on an outparcel near the old New Market Mall along Sawmill Road, scheduled for a March or April opening.

“Bob Evans scared off our company in particular for a long time,” Womack President Scott Womack said. “We give them credit. They created the market.”
