Teacher’s Invention Finds Unexpected Uses

Fran Rebello created the Yacker Tracker to give teachers a way to quiet their students without having to raise their voices.

According to KRCR-TV, the device sounds a siren and flashes a red light whenever noise goes above a preset level, but teachers aren’t the only ones taking notice.

The Yacker Tracker has been put to use in hospitals, city council chambers, and is even being used in Australia as a safety device in mines.

“You don’t know where it’s going to go,” said Rebello. “It was all new learning for me which was exciting. You just start out small. It think the best part about it is getting the emails from people how they’re using it, how it’s helping them.”
